Roswell Jazz Festival School of Jazz

The Roswell Jazz Festival “School of Jazz” was established as part of the very first festival in 2005 and it has been a part of every festival since. A small operating fund was created from the gift of Cory Beck, a loyal supporter who passed away in 2006. Though extremely limited, this gift has allowed us to present well attended educational seminars and student outreach performances in a few Roswell public schools at festival time each year.
Attracting young people to the arts and arts education programs is a daunting task that seems to be a major challenge to almost all jazz festival organizations. Those festivals that are the most successful focus on attracting youth not only at festival week but year-round. They not only award scholarships to deserving students, but conduct local and regional jazz band competitions, hire professional musicians to present educational seminars and workshops and produce occasional youth – friendly concerts during the year. We are seeking donors to help fund our RJF School of Jazz activities. Please contact us at 505 359-4876 to help support this worthy project.
